Week 10 – Up
I hate when I get off by a week. But none-the-less I post.
The theme for Week 10 is Up. The reason it was picked because it was thought to be an interesting idea. Up can be taken in many ways. That is of course a constant joy about the English language. Even though a single word has a definition, the definition and the use of it is still vaguely up for interpretation. More so the use though. That’s why I’m at least happy to say I like the variety of images this week. We each took a slightly different interpretation of the word Up, something that I felt like we haven’t done the past few weeks!

Wow, I love this as a theme. And the different interpretations of the theme reflect such a neat variety of perspectives. Photo 1 is the most literal. I love the use of the layers with the person in the foreground both as a framing device and a focal point. The lines from the machinery serve to separate the focal point from the two guys looking up. I might argue that this is more of a photo about “down” as the guy in the foreground seems to be ready to jump down. All in perspective, huh. Photo 2 “get up” is a fun perspective on this and I feel confident it was taken at 8-whatever p.m., because y’all aren’t up by 8-whatever a.m. 🙂 I love the low depth of field in this one. Brings me right into the bright focal point. Needs to be color corrected. I wish the arm, the leading line, weren’t right in the center. Top third. Bottom third. The fact that the person is flipping off the alarm clock is also funny. Photo 3 was also very fun. What a great angle. And I love the reflection in the wall. Also great use of low depth of field as the background doesn’t add much to the photo. This photo seems a bit yellow. I wish the pink in the balloon and the blue in his shirt popped out, but the other colors being neutral works. The exit sign is distracting. My order: photo 2, 1, 3
