Week 12 – Portrait
by Luis on June 7, 2012 in Contest, Photography with 1 Comment
Interesting this week, the theme of this weeks falls back to back with Week 11′s “self-portrait.”
The theme for this week is Portrait. I haven’t received a reasoning for picking portrait but I find it interesting to have the theme self-portrait without us in it to anything that would be classified a portrait. Definitely a broad category to say the least. Once I get a reasoning for picking portrait I’ll append this paragraph with that update. Until then the three photos are:
Developed Free Film
by Luis on March 29, 2009 in Photography, Photoshop with 1 CommentSo I’m extremely tired, but have been watching likes of Scrubs. I had an Aikido seminar today which a lot of fun, and I learned how to use a sword and bow staff.
But why I post things. so my last post, I talked about getting free film. Well I developed it and got it scanned in this Friday. Made me sohappy to scan the negatives in
.
This pictures is one that I’ve taken, it was definitely quite amusing. it was taken with Kodak Gold film, on a Nikon N65 with a 50mm f/1.4
Following thing. I took pictures of my friend Mandy in the studio when she visted me the other week. I took the time this past Wednesday to photoshop it a little bit. Mainly because my friend Sam were talking about different ways to enhance a photo. Mainly using different color overlays to try and give the picture more texture and depth. First I’m going to show you my layers palette from photoshop to give a better understanding of what I did.
The original image is:
As you can see I use non-destructive work flow.
-I first copied the layer
-Than use Channel Mixer to give me this really nice hue to it.
-I than took the original layer copied it again, and use the extract tool to cut it out.
-I switched the blending mode for the hued layer to soft light
-I then made the extracted layer a component of the hued layer by holding down alt and clicking inbetween those 2 layers.
Final image:
And that’s what I did!
New Picture and Thought
by Luis on February 24, 2009 in Designs, Photography, Photoshop with 2 CommentsAlright so there this slight pauses inbetween posts are annoying me, I’m going to try to make these closer together (posts that is). I really want to make progress to this blog.
Anyways point is, I think I’m going to add Design to this blog. I am an Industrial Design student and I should include my designs in here as well as my photos. so some of the next few posts (after this one) is going to be some of my previous design projects. Then I’ll try to add a design post in there every once in awhile.
Without Further ado, Today’s picture is of my friend Christin who was Harley Quinn, from Batman. Then through a series of events she ends up in my studio and me taking pictures of her. Enjoy.
Current Project
by Luis on January 19, 2009 in Photography, Photoshop with No CommentsI guess I can’t really call this a current project, but it’s a project that I’ve been working on for some time now, it’s a common theme of:
The Seven Deadly Sins.
What I’ve been doing is getting my friends to portray each of the 7 deadly sins. I have taken 3 of the 7. And has almost finished 1. That one is Wrath. I’m about half way done with Greed and Envy as well. I took Sloth but I didn’t like it so I’m planning on taking it again. However here is what I have Wrath, I’ll post Greed and Envy once I have a little bit more done with those.
A Fresh Start
by Luis on January 19, 2009 in Photo Gear, Photography with 1 CommentSo this is my first post, and just a few things I want to say. My main goal for this blog is to post pictures I’m working on, rants about photography/photo-gear, cool information/blogs that I find about both of those things, and maybe they occasional Adobe Photoshop tutorial if I deem necessary as I do get upset with most Photoshop tutorials, especially published books.
Secondly I’m going to post my gear simply because I know that it makes it seem like people can see where I’m coming from in my photography and gear post.
I use a:
D300 (newly bought)
D50 (had since Feb. 2007)
18-55mm (f/3.5-5.6)
28 mm (f/2.8)
50 mm (f/1.8)
85 mm (f/1.8)
SB800 Flash
Also I use a N65 film camera, and I roll and develop my own film.
I’m hoping to post some sort of photo I took that I thought was cool, or one that I’m in the process of editing almost every other day or so. As I am studying Industrial Design and work as a photographer for a paper that might not always be possible but enjoy!
